Summer Reading

“All Together Now” : June 1 – July 22, 2023!

The Dallas County Library just completed a very successful Summer Reading Program, “All Together Now”.   79 children in Pre-school through 5th grade signed up and read 3,134 books during June and July.

All participants received various gift certificates from several local businesses when they turned in completed reading sheets.  36 of the children who completed all 5 sheets received book bags.  Their names were placed in a drawing for the grand prizes in three age groups.  Two children received tablets and a Pre-school activity set was awarded to the youngest winner.  32 craft bags were also distributed.

The library staff and board would like to thank the following businesses for donating prizes:  Hip Pocket Pizza, Dairy Queen, Sonic, McDonald’s, and Taco Bell.  Thank you to the Buffalo United Methodist Church which allowed the library to hold several of the special programs in the church family center, and Buffalo Reflex for publishing information about library programs.

Thank you to the program presenters including Marty Hahne the Reading Magician, Ha Ha Tonka State Park, Missouri Department of Conservation, Buffalo Garden Club, Buffalo Fire Department, and Iron Knights Fitness Center.  Thank you to the parents and grandparents of the participants who brought the children to library activities and checked out books for them.

Readers who have just completed 5th grade & younger may sign up beginning May 22, using paper sheets to log books that are read, or use the online Beanstack app. and begin logging titles June 1st. (See instructions below.)

Small prizes will be awarded with each completed sheet. A GRAND PRIZE drawing will be held at the end of the program, for those who have completed all 5 sheets. July 22 is the last day to turn in reading logs!
