Genealogy – Local History

Try our new digital microfilm scanner.

With the VIEWSCAN 4, patrons can now easily browse, re-size or crop an image before printing or saving to a USB drive.  It’s 18-megapixel sensor and software creates a consistently clear image, even from historic microfilm.  The library’s collection includes film of Dallas County newspapers beginning in 1869, as preserved by the Missouri State Historical Society. Some issues are not available due to poor quality, or lack of the original document to microfilm.  Films may be viewed at the library during our regular hours.  Call 417-345-2647 for details.
